What it does

taskfamily_list_upcoming_events is a read tool for TaskFamily (taskfamily.com), the site for chores, rewards kids choose, a private family chat and helpers. It returns the events on the family calendar that fall inside a window you choose: 1 to 30 days ahead, defaulting to 7. Read tools change nothing, and this one is idempotent, so calling it twice with the same input returns the same list.

The tool acts on one member's own data. A person reaches it through the account connector at https://onelifevibe.com/mcp, which needs their OneLifeVibe sign-in (OAuth 2.1 with PKCE) and the scope olv.read. The person must also have signed in to taskfamily.com with OneLifeVibe once; without that, the tool answers not_linked.

When an assistant should call it

Call it when someone asks what is on the family calendar, what is happening this week, or whether anything is scheduled in the next few days. It is the read counterpart to taskfamily_add_event, so use it before adding or discussing an event and the assistant can see what already exists.

For chores and to-dos, use taskfamily_list_tasks instead. For items waiting on a parent's approval, use taskfamily_list_pending_approvals. This tool covers calendar events only.

Inputs and an example call

It takes one optional argument, days, an integer from 1 to 30. Leave it out to use the default of 7. The call goes to the MCP endpoint as a tools/call request:

{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"taskfamily_list_upcoming_events","arguments":{}}}

Pass {"days":14} in arguments to look two weeks ahead. The endpoint is https://onelifevibe.com/mcp. The account connector's sign-in is set up for Meta Muse today (client onelifevibe-muse); other MCP clients reach the no-account tools through the free connector.

What comes back

The response contains events[], a list of event objects with id, title, starts_at, ends_at, all_day and for. starts_at and ends_at give the event's start and end, all_day flags an all-day event, and for shows who the event is for. If nothing falls inside the window, events[] is empty.

Errors, limits and safety

Keep days between 1 and 30; that is the full range the tool accepts. Because the tool is read-only, a failed call cannot leave a half-created event behind.

Two failures are worth handling explicitly. not_linked means the person has not signed in to taskfamily.com with OneLifeVibe yet, so ask them to do that once and retry. A platform API key gets 501 world_tools_unavailable for this tool today, because it acts on one member's own data; that key can still call the world catalogue, the tool registry, the network directory tool and the event log. Use the account connector for this one.

Questions

What does taskfamily_list_upcoming_events return?

It returns events[], a list with id, title, starts_at, ends_at, all_day and for for each event in the chosen window. The window is 1 to 30 days ahead, defaulting to 7.

Why does the tool answer not_linked?

The person has not signed in to taskfamily.com with OneLifeVibe once, which the account connector requires. Have them sign in, then retry the call.

Can I call it with a platform API key?

No. A platform key gets 501 world_tools_unavailable for this tool today because it acts on one member's own data. Use the account connector at https://onelifevibe.com/mcp with the olv.read scope.

Build with it. Connect an assistant to https://onelifevibe.com/mcp, or get a free Sandbox key for the Platform API.
