astrodios_get_today

What it does

astrodios_get_today is a read tool on the OneLifeVibe account connector. It returns the AstroDIOS daily reading for the member's active birth profile: a headline, a short summary, a best_for list, an avoid list and nine scores. AstroDIOS (astrodios.com) combines Western, Vedic and Chinese astrology, numerology, tarot and the I Ching into one daily answer, and this tool returns that answer as fields an assistant can quote.

Read class means it changes nothing: no profile is created, no morning email is scheduled, no setting moves. It is idempotent, so the same date returns the same reading and a retry after a dropped connection is safe.

When an assistant should call it

Call it when someone asks what today looks like, or what a named date looks like, and wants the reading itself rather than a link to the website. It fits timing questions too: a launch, a hard conversation, a trip. best_for and avoid give the assistant concrete handles, and the scores let you narrow to love, career, money, health, mind, travel, home or creativity when the question is specific.

Ask for a date only when the person names one. One call answers one day.

Other tools sit on the same connector: astrodios_scan_days, astrodios_get_plan, astrodios_set_morning_email, astrodios_love_match and astrodios_sign_horoscope. This one only reads the daily reading.

Inputs and an example call

One optional input: date, in YYYY-MM-DD form. Leave it out and you get today. Arguments are an object, and an empty one is valid.

The active birth profile lives on astrodios.com, so the person needs their birth details saved there before the call. The request itself carries no birth data and no profile identifier.

What comes back

The result carries profile_name, date, headline, summary, best_for[], avoid[] and scores. profile_name shows which active birth profile answered, which matters when someone keeps more than one; date echoes the day covered.

headline is the one-line take and summary is the short paragraph under it. best_for and avoid are arrays, so read them as lists rather than single strings. scores holds overall, love, career, money, health, mind, travel, home and creativity.

Those are the only fields returned. Keep the headline and summary close to how they arrive, and present best_for, avoid and the scores as the reading's own suggestions rather than instructions the person has to act on.

Errors, limits and safety

Sign-in: the account connector uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and the scope olv.read, and the person must have signed in to astrodios.com with OneLifeVibe at least once. Without that, the tool answers not_linked. Send them to astrodios.com to sign in, then retry.

Plan: today's reading is free, one day either side. Any other date needs AstroDIOS Pro, $9.99/month or $69/year, listed at astrodios.com/pricing. If a date falls outside the free window, say so and point at that page instead of retrying.

The connector's sign-in is set up for Meta Muse today (client onelifevibe-muse); other MCP clients reach the no-account tools through the free connector.

Platform keys: the tool is listed in GET /api/platform/v1/tools, but a platform key gets 501 world_tools_unavailable for it today, because it acts on one member's own data. Platform keys can call the world catalogue, the tool registry, the network directory tool and the event log.
